The Public Health Smoking Act of 1970 is passed

The Public Health Smoking Act is passed, reflecting the position of anti-smoking interests. As a result, warning labels on packages are required (warning potential buyers that cigarette smoking is dangerous to their health). The Act also prohibited cigarette advertising on television and on the radio.
