In November of 2014, voters in Oregon, Alaska and Washington (D.C.) approved of an initiative that would legalize cannabis for recreational purposes. The legalized Marijuana Initiative was approved with 56% of the votes in Oregon, 53% of the votes in Alaska and over 70% of the votes in Washington D.C.
