1971 CE
The Misuse of Drugs Act is implemented in the United Kingdom

The Misuse of Drugs Act of 1971 introduced some important changes to current legislation. One of those changes was the introduction of the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs as well as the the introduction of the terms "controlled drugs" to replace the expression "dangerous drugs" which was used previously. The main goal of the Act was to "prevent the misuse of controlled drugs and achieves this by imposing a complete ban on the possession, supply, manufacture, import and export of controlled drugs except as allowed by regulations or by license from the Secretary of State."
