The film Reefer Madness is released

The movie Tell Your Children (later re-titled Reefer Madness) is released in the United States. The movie was originally financed by a church group and was intended to scare parents who watched it by portraying cannabis as an addictive and dangerous substance that would ruin their children's lives. After the film was shot, it was purchased by Dwain Esper and retitled Reefer Madness. The film later became a cult phenomenon.
