United Nations Convention against Illicit Traffic

The United Nations Convention Against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances sought to address the depth and growth of the illegal drug trade, increasingly dominated by criminal gangs. The goal of this Convention was to provides comprehensive measures against drug trafficking, including provisions against money laundering . It also encouraged and provided for international cooperation through, for example, extradition of drug traffickers, controlled deliveries as well as transfer of proceedings.
