A research study shows that psilocybin can induce mystical experiences

In 2006, a double-blind study about the effects of psilocybin was conducted in the United States. It aimed to evaluate the longer-term psychological effects of a high dose of psilocybin relative to a comparison compound administered under comfortable, supportive conditions. The study concluded that "when administered under supportive conditions, psilocybin occasioned experiences similar to spontaneously occurring mystical experiences".
