Health Canada approves first clinical trial to look into the use of MDMA to treat PTSD

MDMA is approved to be clinically tested in Canada for the first time in four decades. Researchers in Vancouver will be giving ecstasy to 12 people suffering from chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) during therapeutic sessions. The purpose of this study is to find out if MDMA can help people with debilitating symptoms associated with PTSD who have not responded to conventional remedies (about a quarter of people coping with PTSD do not respond to traditional treatment).
