The first tobacco shipment from Jamestown (Virginia) is sent to England in 1614. While that first shipment was modest, the size of tobacco exports to Europe increasingly grew during the 17th century, reaching 25'000'000 pounds of tobacco being exported to Europe by the 1680's.
